MRI

MRIMagnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an advanced medical imaging technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves instead of X-ray to image different parts of the body.  It is an easy, safe and comfortable exam.  It provides an excellent way to diagnose diseases of the brain, spine, skeleton, chest, abdomen, pelvis and blood vessels.

How does an MRI work?
MRI uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body.  In many cases MRI gives different information about structures in the body than can’t be seen with an X-ray, ultrasound, or CT scan.  MRI also may show problems that cannot be seen with other imaging methods.
